CEC expects to receive a letter from the Chief Adviser soon regarding the 13th parliamentary election.

Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has said he expects to receive an official letter from the Chief Adviser soon regarding the 13th parliamentary election.
Speaking to reporters at his office in Nirbachon Bhaban, Agargaon on Wednesday, Nasir said: “I hope the letter will arrive soon. But even if it doesn’t, we’re proceeding with our preparations. Despite the challenges surrounding the February election timeline, we are moving forward with readiness.”
He also confirmed that the election schedule would be announced two months before the polling date.
The Chief Adviser, in a televised address to the nation on Tuesday marking the first anniversary of the July Uprising, referred to the upcoming polls and the planned transfer of power to an elected government.
“After addressing you on this historic day, we now enter our final and most crucial chapter—preparing to hand over responsibility to an elected government,” he said.
“On behalf of the interim government, I will soon send a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, requesting that the Election Commission arrange the national elections before next Ramadan, in February 2026,” he added.
In a prior national address in June, the Chief Adviser had hinted at an election in the first half of April 2026. However, a joint declaration issued after his June 13 meeting with Tarique Rahman in London indicated that, if preparations were complete, the election could be held earlier—before Ramadan in February.
