Trump Welcomes Saudi Arabia-Turkey-Pakistan Defense Pact

US President Donald Trump has welcomed the recently signed defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, calling it a significant step toward greater regional security.

Trump said he was “very happy” to see the three countries sign the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, describing it as a “BIG, BOLD, IMPORTANT FIRST STEP” toward stronger self-defense capabilities in the Middle East.

Signed on August 7, the pact states that an attack on one member will be considered an attack on all three. Pakistan said the agreement aims to strengthen collective deterrence and promote peace, security and stability in the region.

The countries have also pledged to support efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.
