Six More Children Die With Measles-Like Symptoms in 24 Hours

Six more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country, while 1,159 new suspected cases were reported in the past 24 hours, health authorities said on Tuesday.

According to a bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 72 new measles cases were confirmed between 8am Monday and 8am Tuesday. No confirmed measles-related deaths were recorded during the period.

Since March 15, the number of confirmed measles cases has reached 19,384, while suspected cases have climbed to 159,150, the DGHS said.

During the same period, 99 deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles, while 880 deaths were recorded among suspected cases, taking the total reported fatalities to 979.

The DGHS also said that 134,458 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
