Bangladesh, Malaysia Explore Expanded Cooperation in Tourism

Bangladesh and Malaysia have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in tourism, with a focus on improving connectivity, easing visa procedures, developing skilled manpower and promoting cultural exchanges.

The discussions took place at a meeting between State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Chiew Choon Man in Putrajaya on Tuesday, according to a press release.

The two sides explored several measures to boost tourism ties, including increasing flight frequencies, facilitating visas and pre-verification processes, enhancing capacity-building programmes and expanding cultural exchanges.

They also discussed sharing expertise, experience and best practices in tourism development to promote mutually beneficial cooperation.

Particular emphasis was placed on training and skills development in the hospitality sector, including opportunities to increase the recruitment of trained Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia’s tourism industry.

The meeting highlighted the importance of stronger tourism links in promoting people-to-people connectivity, cultural understanding and new economic opportunities.

The discussions also aimed to deepen the longstanding bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia by identifying new areas of cooperation.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, along with senior officials from Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Tourism Malaysia and the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, attended the meeting.
