President Mirza Fakhrul assumes official duties at Bangabhaban

Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today received his first ceremonial salute and began his official engagements at Bangabhaban after assuming office.

A smartly dressed horse-mounted Bangladesh Police contingent welcomed the president when he arrived at Bangabhaban at 11am and escorted him to the Credential Field.

A contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) then presented him with a guard of honour, while a combined military band from the Army, Navy and Air Force performed a welcome tune.

Following the ceremony, President’s Military Secretary Major General A S M Bahauddin, Public Division Secretary AJM Salahuddin Nagari, Press Secretary Sarwar Alam and PGR Commander Brigadier General Ghulam Ariqul Alam welcomed the president and his family members with floral bouquets at Bangabhaban’s Octagonal.

The president later went to his office, where he signed official documents and the visitors’ book.
