Zahed Ur Rahman: Nahid's Remarks on NCP Rally Blast Were Politically Motivated
Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman on Tuesday described National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam’s comments on the bomb attack at the party’s rally in Savar as political, while assuring that the government is conducting a thorough investigation and will bring those responsible to justice.
Speaking at a press briefing on the government's activities at the Press Information Department (PID) conference room at the Secretariat, Zahed condemned the attack, calling it "deeply unfortunate."
"Our primary responsibility is to investigate the incident and identify those involved," he said.
Responding to Nahid Islam’s allegation that the attack occurred with the backing of the administration, Zahed said, "His remarks were political in nature, and he has every right to make political statements. However, as the leader of a political party that played a significant role in our mass uprising, we expected a more responsible comment."
When asked why no arrests had been made nearly a day after the incident, the adviser said investigations require time.
"Less than 24 hours have passed since the attack. It is not always possible to complete everything immediately. The government is making its utmost efforts to apprehend those responsible, and we hope there will be progress soon. There is an established investigation process, and the authorities are following it," he said.
Zahed added that while no government can prevent every untoward incident, the key issue is how it responds.
"I can assure you that this government is treating the matter with the highest priority and is taking all necessary measures," he said.
