Tarique Rahman starts his first day in office at the Tejgaon Prime Minister’s Office
He also planted a swarnachampa sapling at the PMO and offered prayers in thanksgiving.
Tarique Rahman arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon for the first time on Saturday, formally beginning his duties from the office after taking the oath of office.
He was welcomed by Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon, officials at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
Before entering the main building, the prime minister greeted officials and staff members who had served during the tenure of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and spoke with several long-serving employees. Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam and other officials were also present.
Later, he unveiled a commemorative postage stamp marking Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day 2026. During his visit, Rahman planted a swarnachampa sapling on the PMO premises and offered prayers in gratitude after assuming office, officials added.
