Tamim credits the entire team “1,000%” for their historic victory over Australia

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal credited the players, team management and selectors for Bangladesh’s historic nine-wicket Test victory over Australia in Darwin on Sunday.

Tamim spoke to the players immediately after the match and was present when Prime Minister Tarique Rahman congratulated the team via video call.

Praising the landmark win, Tamim said Bangladesh deserved “1,000%” of the credit for the way they performed in Australia after 23 years. He said the BCB’s role was mainly to provide the team with the necessary facilities and guidance.

Asked about a possible bonus for the players, Tamim kept the details private, saying the matter would be discussed internally with the team.

Bangladesh currently sit fourth in the World Test Championship standings, with four home Tests and two away matches remaining. Tamim said a place in the WTC final is possible, but stressed that the team should focus on the matches ahead.

“The way they are playing, anything is possible,” he said.
