Raihan Rafi, Abdullah Mohammad Saad Team Up for New Film ‘Eyes’
Popular filmmaker Raihan Rafi has joined hands with acclaimed director and screenwriter Abdullah Mohammad Saad for a new feature film titled Eyes. The project marks the first collaboration between the two renowned filmmakers, with Rafi directing, Saad writing the screenplay, and Tanveer Hossain serving as producer.
Announcing the project on his official Facebook page, Rafi described Eyes as an attempt to blur the long-standing distinction between art-house and commercial cinema.
"Some films begin as a story. Some begin as a question. Eyes began with a belief," he wrote. "For a long time, we have lived with a false divide between art-house cinema and commercial cinema. I have never believed that cinema should be trapped inside these boxes. A film can be emotional, entertaining, thoughtful, urgent, and still reach people deeply. For me, that is always the dream."
Reflecting on the collaboration, Rafi said the film unites three creatives with different artistic perspectives.
"Eyes is special because it brings me together with Abdullah Mohammad Saad and Tanveer Hossain. The three of us come from different journeys, different instincts, and different ways of looking at films. That difference is exactly what makes this collaboration exciting for me," he said.
Rafi noted that Saad brings "psychological depth, silence, moral pressure, and fragile human truth" to the project, while producer Tanveer Hossain contributes the "belief, persistence, and producing vision" that helped bring the collaboration to life.
He also revealed that Eyes, which is currently in development, has been selected for the CoPro-Access Lab 2026. Describing the selection as "a meaningful first step," Rafi said the team is developing the project with great care, ambition and enthusiasm.
