BGB detains a Myanmar soldier and two police officers along the Teknaf border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a Myanmar Army soldier and two police officers while they were allegedly attempting to enter Bangladesh illegally through the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar.
The three Myanmar nationals were apprehended on Monday afternoon in the Naittongpara area of Teknaf municipality and later handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station.
The detainees were identified as 38-year-old Heun De Te, 35-year-old Kyaw Naing and 33-year-old Thein Zaw. Authorities said Heun De Te is a serving member of the Myanmar Army, while the other two are members of the Myanmar Police Force. They are residents of Yangon and Maungdaw in Myanmar.
Mohammad Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, said the three were handed over by the BGB on charges of illegally entering Bangladesh.
“A case has been filed against them under the relevant laws for illegal infiltration. They will be shown arrested in the case and produced before a court on Tuesday morning before being sent to Cox’s Bazar District Jail,” the OC said.
