Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today unveiled a special commemorative postage stamp to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day, which will be observed on November 7.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister launched a Tk10 commemorative postage stamp, a Tk10 first-day cover and a Tk5 data card.

He formally signed the commemorative stamp and first-day cover before releasing them with a special postmark at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat this morning, said Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.

Issued by the Bangladesh Postal Department, the commemorative stamp will be available at post offices across the country.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, Post and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Kamruzzaman and Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam were present at the ceremony.

November 7 commemorates the 1975 civil-military uprising that led to the release of then army chief Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman from confinement. The day was traditionally observed as National Revolution and Solidarity Day and marked by a public holiday. However, it was subsequently removed from the list of public holidays following a political change.

The government has now reinstated November 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day and restored its status as a public holiday, placing it in the Category-A list of national observances.
