Gold prices have risen again in Bangladesh, with the price of 22-carat gold, the highest-quality category, increasing by Tk 2,216 per bhori. The revised rates took effect at 10am on Wednesday, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

Under the new pricing structure, 22-carat gold is selling at Tk 223,074 per bhori, including VAT.

BAJUS said the latest adjustment was made in response to an increase in the price of refined gold, locally known as tejabi gold, in the domestic market.

The price of 21-carat gold has increased by Tk 2,100 to Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 1,750 to Tk 182,950 per bhori.

Gold sold under the traditional method has also become more expensive, with its price rising by Tk 1,458 to Tk 149,474 per bhori.

Before the latest increase, BAJUS had reduced gold prices four consecutive times on October 13, 22, 23 and 25. Those cuts lowered the price of 22-carat gold by a combined Tk 10,439 per bhori. Wednesday's increase reverses part of that decline.

Meanwhile, silver prices have remained unchanged despite the rise in gold prices.

Under the existing rates, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 3,849 per bhori, including VAT. The prices of 21-carat and 18-carat silver stand at Tk 3,674 and Tk 3,149 per bhori, respectively.

Silver sold under the traditional method remains priced at Tk 2,391 per bhori.
