Trump Says US Could Strike Iran as Soon as ‘Tomorrow’ or Reach a ‘Big, Beautiful’ Deal

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Washington could launch strikes against Iran as early as “tomorrow” or reach a “big, beautiful” deal with Tehran, as reports emerged that he was considering renewed military action against the Islamic Republic.

“We’re thinking about doing it, and maybe tomorrow,” Trump told reporters when asked about the status of his deliberations over a possible attack. “Do you really think I’m going to tell you if I’m going to do it?” he added.

Trump said Iran could avert further US military action by reaching an agreement with Washington. However, he questioned whether Tehran would honour any potential deal.

“They want to make a deal, but the problem is, will they hold the deal?” he said.

The US president maintained that his primary objective was to prevent Iran from eventually developing nuclear weapons. He argued that an earlier US military operation involving B-2 bombers would not have been sufficient to ensure a permanent outcome.

“I’ve got to make it permanent,” Trump said. “That’s the only reason I’m doing it.”

Trump also claimed that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz had increased compared with levels recorded before the war began, although he did not provide any figures to support the assertion.

Offering no definitive indication of his next move, Trump left open the possibility of both renewed military action and a diplomatic breakthrough.

“I may have to finish it off, or maybe they’ll make a deal,” he said. “But I’m not sure. Either way, we win.”

The US-Israeli war against Iran, which began in February and triggered a broader conflict across the Middle East, remains unresolved despite a ceasefire and an agreement to finalise a peace deal.
