Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted Houthi drone heading towards Makkah

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthis said on Wednesday that it had intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the rebels that was heading towards Makkah, Islam’s holiest city.

“The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone launched by the Terrorist Houthi Militia before it entered the prohibited airspace of the Holy City of Makkah Al-Mukarramah,” coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said in a statement posted on X.
