Representatives from around 100 countries, including heads of state, parliamentary leaders, foreign ministers and special government envoys, are expected to attend the funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, according to Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

Speaking on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the tribute and funeral ceremony would begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, with the participation of dignitaries and members of the public.

"High-ranking officials from different countries and political figures will attend the ceremony later in the day," Baqaei said.

He described the farewell and funeral ceremonies as "a historic and highly significant event," saying they hold importance not only for the Iranian people but also for people across the region, Muslims and supporters of Iran around the world.

Additional farewell ceremonies are scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, at the Imam Khomeini Musalla in Tehran.

The funeral procession will be held in Tehran on Monday, July 6, followed by a procession in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7. A final procession is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, in the holy city of Mashhad, where Ayatollah Khamenei will be buried at the shrine of Imam Reza.

According to Iranian authorities, Ayatollah Khamenei was killed on February 28 in what they described as a deliberate attack carried out by the United States and Israel.
