Trump says it is 'ridiculous' for the US to continue its current level of support for NATO

US President Donald Trump on Thursday described Washington's current relationship with NATO as "ridiculous," arguing that the alliance has become "one-sided" just days before a NATO summit in Ankara.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, "They were not there for us!!!" and claimed the United States' relationship with NATO "is not reciprocal."

Trump has repeatedly criticised European allies in recent weeks, accusing them of failing to adequately support the United States in the wake of the conflict with Iran.
