Security operation underway in Bandarban's Ruma area, says ISPR.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) today said security forces are continuing an operation in the remote Retlang area of Bandarban.
The operation follows a special raid carried out on June 28 at a suspected joint hideout of the Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA) and the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF-Main) in the rugged hill area, according to an ISPR statement.
The statement said members of the armed groups fled the hideout after detecting the presence of security personnel, triggering an exchange of fire between the two sides.
The operation is still ongoing in the surrounding areas, the ISPR said.
It added that no further details could be disclosed at this stage due to operational security concerns, but a comprehensive briefing would be provided once the operation is completed.
The ISPR also urged the public and media to refrain from spreading misleading information or propaganda about the ongoing operation.
