The body of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri was recovered from the Turag River on Wednesday, a day after he went missing.

Abdullah Al Mamun, superintendent of river police in the Dhaka Range, confirmed the incident on Thursday (29 October). Inspector Firoz Uddin of the Tongi River Police Outpost said Uttarkhan Police recovered the body from the Rajabari Ghat area of the Turag River on Wednesday afternoon after receiving information through the national emergency service 999.

The body was subsequently sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, he added.

Souri resided in Sector 18 of Uttara in the capital. He reportedly went missing on Tuesday night.

He was reportedly the first to share a video on social media showing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina leaving Bangladesh by aircraft on 5 August 2024.

His funeral prayer is scheduled to take place after the autopsy, once the body is handed over to his family, according to the information provided.

Souri and four other officers were dismissed from service around 28 August 2024 and were reportedly under intelligence surveillance.
