PSG Crush Inter Milan to Win First-Ever Champions League Title

Paris Saint-Germain claimed their first Champions League crown in stunning fashion on Saturday, as Luis Enrique’s brilliant young side dismantled Inter Milan 5-0 in what was arguably the most one-sided final in the competition’s history. Teenage sensation Désiré Doué scored twice in a commanding performance at Munich’s Allianz Arena.

Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring early against his former club, and Doué quickly doubled the lead with a deflected effort in the 20th minute. He struck again just after the hour mark, effectively sealing the result, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu completed the rout.

Inter, overwhelmed from start to finish, had no answer for PSG’s pace, precision, and relentless attacking. The 5-0 result marked the biggest winning margin in a European Cup or Champions League final since the tournament began 70 years ago.

The victory is a landmark moment for PSG, who finally lift the trophy after over a decade of heavy investment by their Qatari owners. It comes five years after their only previous final appearance, a narrow loss to Bayern Munich.

Already winners of the French league and domestic cup this season, PSG become only the second French club to win Europe’s biggest prize, following Marseille’s 1993 triumph—also in Munich.

For head coach Luis Enrique, the title is his second in the competition, having previously won it with Barcelona and Lionel Messi in 2015.

This revamped PSG squad, rebuilt intelligently over the past two years and fully unleashed following Kylian Mbappé’s departure, has emerged as arguably the most exciting young side in recent memory. Leading the charge was Doué, who turned in a dazzling display just days before his 20th birthday.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, saw their hopes of a first Champions League title since 2010 dashed. Coach Simone Inzaghi has now led the club to two finals in three years—losing both—and this defeat follows their recent Serie A title disappointment at the hands of Napoli. Inter end the season empty-handed and facing the urgent need to rejuvenate their ageing squad.

PSG took control early on a warm night in Munich. In the 12th minute, Vitinha sliced through Inter’s midfield to find Doué, who squared for Hakimi to finish into an empty net—his muted celebration a nod to his former club. It was the earliest goal in a Champions League final since 2019.

Inter’s situation worsened quickly. A failed corner led to a rapid PSG counter, with Kvaratskhelia releasing Ousmane Dembélé, whose pass found Doué. The teenager’s shot deflected off Federico Dimarco and beat Yann Sommer to make it 2-0.

Marcus Thuram came closest for Inter in the first half, glancing a header just wide, but they faded further after the break. Defensive chaos followed as Dembélé’s flick sent Vitinha clear, and his precise cut-back allowed Doué to complete his brace with a near-post finish in the 63rd minute.

Doué exited to a standing ovation, but PSG’s assault continued. Dembélé sent Kvaratskhelia racing clear to slot home a fourth in the 73rd minute. Then, 19-year-old Mayulu, coming off the bench, exchanged passes with Bradley Barcola before hammering in a fifth goal in the 86th minute.

The emphatic win made PSG the first team to score five goals in a Champions League final since Benfica in 1962, capping off a historic and unforgettable night for the Parisian club.
