Thirteen army officers were produced before the tribunal, with security in and around the premises significantly tightened.
Thirteen army officers are scheduled to appear before the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday in two separate cases involving alleged enforced disappearances and killings committed during the Awami League’s long tenure.
Security has been sharply intensified both within the tribunal compound and throughout the surrounding area.
A three-member panel of Tribunal-1, headed by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, is set to hear the two cases today.
The hearing was originally slated for 20 November but was rescheduled after the tribunal received a time petition.
Earlier, on 26 October, a two-member bench led by Justice Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood set today’s date, with retired district and sessions judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury serving as the other panel member.
The officers are expected to be produced before ICT-1 for a second consecutive day, in line with the schedule.
To maintain order, members of the Border Guard Bangladesh, Rab, and police have been deployed in the area since morning.
On 22 October, the officers—then in Bangladesh Army custody—were first brought to the tribunal and produced before ICT-1 under heavy security.
