US Embassy Announces New Medical Visa Guidelines for Bangladeshi Applicants

The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued new guidelines for Bangladeshi nationals applying for B-2 visas to seek medical treatment in the United States.

In a statement shared on its verified Facebook page on 25 July, the embassy said applicants must prove they have the financial means to pay for all medical expenses, related costs, and round-trip travel.

The embassy noted that consular officers assess each application to ensure the applicant's treatment plans will not place a financial burden on US taxpayers.

Under the updated requirements, applicants must submit a prescription or referral from a local physician explaining why treatment in the United States is necessary. They are also required to provide an acceptance letter from a US physician outlining the proposed treatment, its expected duration, and the estimated cost.

Additionally, applicants must furnish evidence of sufficient funds to cover transportation, medical treatment, and living expenses throughout their stay in the United States.
