Gold prices climb again; 22-carat reaches Tk261,040 per bhori
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices in the local market once again, increasing the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori to Tk261,040.
The revised rates were announced in a statement on Monday and came into effect at 10:00am the same day.
BAJUS said the latest adjustment follows a rise in the price of pure (acid) gold in the domestic market. The association reviewed the overall market conditions before setting the new rates.
Under the updated pricing, 22-carat gold will sell for Tk261,040 per bhori (11.664 grams), while 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk249,143 per bhori. The price of 18-carat gold now stands at Tk213,568 per bhori, and gold made using the traditional method will cost Tk174,785 per bhori.
The association also clarified that the final retail price must include a mandatory 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% making charge set by BAJUS. However, additional making charges may vary depending on the jewellery’s design and craftsmanship.
With this latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 32 times so far this year — raised 20 times and lowered 12 times.
Silver prices, meanwhile, remain unchanged. The rate for 22-carat silver is Tk6,707 per bhori, 21-carat silver Tk6,415, 18-carat silver Tk5,482, and traditional method silver Tk4,082 per bhori.
