A hacker alleges to have gathered login credentials for 20 million ChatGPT users.

The AI-powered chatbot 'ChatGPT', developed by the American tech company OpenAI, is known for answering questions quickly and accurately. It can also write messages, articles, and poems based on user instructions, which is why many people use it regularly. However, a Russian hacker named Emirking has discovered a security vulnerability in ChatGPT’s 'authentication' system. He claims to have obtained the login credentials of 20 million ChatGPT users by exploiting this flaw.

In a statement in Russian, the hacker, known as Emirking, said, "When I realized OpenAI could potentially verify multiple accounts simultaneously, I was certain that my password wouldn’t be hidden. I have more than 20 million access codes for OpenAI. Anyone interested can reach out to me. This is a significant asset."

Cybersecurity company Malwarebytes reported that gathering such a large amount of login information through a phishing attack would be extremely difficult. If the hacker’s claim is true, it’s likely he obtained this data by exploiting a flaw in OpenAI's subdomain or by gaining administrative access. OpenAI has yet to comment on the issue.

Experts in cybersecurity warn that if the leaked OpenAI login credentials fall into the wrong hands, there is a significant risk of users' personal information being stolen. This could lead to targeted phishing attacks, financial fraud, and the misuse of personal data. Furthermore, the exposed login details could be used for unauthorized access to OpenAI’s API.
