Bangladesh has sent the required documents to India to facilitate the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the existing extradition treaty.

Rafiqul Alam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed this during a weekly briefing on Thursday. Sheikh Hasina fled to India after being removed from power on August 5. The interim government is now seeking her return to face trial for the killings that occurred in July and August.

The spokesperson stated that the necessary documents had been sent from Dhaka to New Delhi, and the government is now awaiting a diplomatic and political response. He also mentioned that it is up to the government's senior officials to decide whether to follow the international process for the extradition of other Awami League leaders currently residing in India.

Additionally, the spokesperson expressed support for the UN fact-finding mission’s report, stating that it would deeply affect anyone's conscience. He also expressed hope that neighboring India would consider the report and collaborate with Bangladesh on the matter.
