Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has urged global action against racial injustice, drawing attention to the plight of the Rohingya people, who continue to face racial discrimination and prolonged statelessness.

Since 2017, Bangladesh has provided refuge to over a million forcibly displaced Rohingyas, but Yunus emphasized that their repatriation to Myanmar remains the only viable solution to this ongoing crisis.

In a message on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Friday, he called on the global community to take proactive steps to ensure their swift return to their homeland in Myanmar.

On this occasion, Bangladesh reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to fighting racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and all forms of intolerance.

This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).

"As a state party to ICERD, Bangladesh upholds non-discrimination as a fundamental principle of governance and society," said the chief adviser.
