Trump Appoints Adam Telle as Acting US Army Secretary

President Donald Trump on Thursday appointed Adam Telle as acting secretary of the US Army, following the resignation of Dan Driscoll, who stepped down as the Army’s top civilian official amid reported disagreements with Pentagon leadership.

Trump announced the appointment in a post on his Truth Social platform, saying Telle, who currently serves as assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works, would take over as acting secretary with immediate effect. Trump described Telle as a “great patriot” who is “respected by all.”

Telle was sworn in as assistant secretary in August 2025 after being confirmed by the US Senate. He spent much of his career working as a congressional aide on Capitol Hill.

Driscoll’s departure is the latest resignation of a senior US military official during Trump’s administration.

Driscoll, a former law school classmate of Vice President JD Vance, had reportedly benefited from their close relationship within the administration. However, he later clashed with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to reports.
