State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir has said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will not attend the BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place in India next week.
Kobir said Dhaka was not satisfied with the process through which Bangladesh was invited to participate in the summit.
However, he said the prime minister may make a bilateral visit to India at a later date.
The state minister made the remarks while responding to journalists after attending an international conference on the Rohingya issue at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.
The 18th BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, with India hosting the event.
Kobir said the government is working to arrange a bilateral visit by the prime minister to India when the timing is considered conducive.
