A total of 35 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated from Italy, Greece and Cyprus, three European countries.

They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday (23 October) on a special repatriation flight. Among them, 19 returned from Italy, 10 from Greece and six from Cyprus.

In a statement, the Embassy of Italy in Dhaka said the flight was operated on Friday under the coordination of Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency. The operation facilitated the return of the Bangladeshi nationals from the three European countries.

The embassy also stated that Europe maintains a “zero-tolerance” policy towards illegal entry and overstaying.

It emphasised the importance of safe, orderly and legal migration, warning that paying human traffickers, brokers or smugglers to enter Italy without a valid visa is illegal.

Those involved in such activities risk being repatriated to their home country and banned from entering Schengen countries.
