The child victim of the Magura rape case has been transferred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for further treatment.

An eight-year-old rape victim from Magura has been transferred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for advanced treatment from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday afternoon. DMCH deputy director Ashraful Alam confirmed the transfer at around 5:00 pm on Saturday.

Ashraful Alam informed Prothom Alo that social welfare adviser Sharmin Murshid visited the child at DMCH on Saturday afternoon. The decision to move the child to CMH was made following the adviser’s instructions and the recommendation of the medical board formed for her treatment.

Earlier, DMCH director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman stated that the child’s condition remains critical, and she is currently on ventilator support. The child was allegedly raped while visiting her elder sister’s home in Magura. A cousin of the victim told Prothom Alo that she remains unconscious. Doctors have decided to keep her under observation for the next 24 hours. She was admitted to DMCH on Thursday evening.

According to police and family sources, the child was initially taken to Magura 250-bed Hospital in an unconscious state around 11:00 am on Thursday. She was later transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better care and subsequently referred to DMCH.

The family, residents of Sreepur upazila in Magura, revealed that the child had been staying at her elder sister’s in-laws’ house for a few days. On Thursday morning, her sister’s mother-in-law brought her to the Magura hospital in an unconscious state. Doctors there reported signs of trauma, including a mark on her neck, scratches on her body, and bleeding from her vaginal tract.

Magura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ayub Ali stated on Friday that preliminary findings suggest the child was raped. The family has not yet filed a formal complaint, but the child’s brother-in-law and his father have been detained for questioning. An investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, local residents and students protested on Friday, demanding justice for the victim. They blocked the highway and surrounded the police station, calling for the accused to be handed over to them. The protest was later dispersed by law enforcement.

In a related development, the child’s mother filed a formal case on Saturday morning through the victim’s elder sister and father. The case was registered at Magura Sadar Police Station around 3:00 pm. Magura Additional Superintendent of Police Md Mirajul Islam confirmed the filing and stated that four accused are already in custody and have been formally arrested in connection with the case.
