Adani’s Godda power plant is now fully operational and prepared to supply electricity according to demand.

The second unit of the Adani Group’s 1,600MW Godda Power Plant in Jharkhand has resumed production after a brief shutdown caused by a technical fault.

With the unit coming back online on Tuesday evening, both 800MW units are now fully available to supply electricity to Bangladesh as needed by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

According to plant officials, a technical issue detected last Thursday (13 November) prompted the temporary shutdown, but engineers resolved it swiftly, allowing operations to restart within a few days.

As of 6pm Wednesday, Bangladesh was receiving up to 765MW from the plant.

Officials said the facility can increase supply to around 1,500MW whenever BPDB requests additional power.

“We are waiting for BPDB’s schedule to ramp up supply. Winter demand is low at the moment, so BPDB has not started drawing power from the second unit,” one official said.

The Godda plant—built solely to supply electricity to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement—remains a key source of power imports for managing the country’s energy needs.
