Over 5 Lakh People Receive Legal Advice At Government Cost

According to a report published on the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) website, a total of 507,228 people have received free legal advice under the government’s legal aid programme.
Covering the period between 2009 and August 2025, the report stated that 438,474 cases involving underprivileged litigants were supported through this framework.
It noted that 26,388 individuals obtained free legal advice from the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while 268,521 people received services from legal aid offices in all 64 districts.
The report further highlighted sector-specific assistance, mentioning that 21,747 workers were supported through specialized legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.
These services, provided under the Legal Aid Services Act, aim to ensure access to justice for financially insolvent and disadvantaged litigants. The activities are overseen by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
