HC order stayed, paving the way for DUCSU elections
Earlier, an HC bench headed by Justice Habibul Gani, in response to a writ petition, ordered that DUCSU elections be deferred until October 30.

The High Court’s order postponing the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections until October 30 has been suspended by the Chamber Court.
Justice Farah Mahbub, chamber judge of the Appellate Division, passed the order on Monday (September 1) afternoon, less than an hour after the High Court directive. The decision came in response to a petition filed by Dhaka University authorities challenging the earlier ruling.
Lawyer Shishir Monir confirmed the development, saying, “Dhaka University authorities appealed to the Chamber Court against the High Court’s order on the DUCSU elections. The Chamber Court then set aside the order. As a result, there is no barrier to holding the elections.”
Earlier the same day, a High Court bench led by Justice Habibul Gani, responding to a writ petition, had directed that the elections remain postponed until October 30.
The writ was filed by BM Fahmida Alam, a candidate for Secretary of Liberation War and Democratic Movement from the left alliance-backed panel. She challenged the eligibility of GS candidate SM Farhad, who was nominated by the United Students' Alliance with the support of Chhatrashibir.
According to the final list published on August 26, a total of 471 candidates are contesting. Of the initial applicants, 28 withdrew voluntarily, while 10 rejected candidates chose not to appeal, leading to the cancellation of their nomination papers.
