Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has finalized and announced its panel for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, slated for 9 September.

The panel was introduced by JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib at a press conference held Wednesday afternoon at the base of Aparajeyo Bangla.

For the top posts, Abidul Islam Khan, joint general secretary of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal and a student of Islamic Studies (2015–16 session), has been nominated for vice president (VP). Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, convener of the Poet Jasim Uddin Hall unit and a student of Women and Gender Studies (2018–19 session), will contest for general secretary (GS), while Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, convener of Bijoy Ekattor Hall Chhatra Dal and a student of Mass Communication and Journalism (2018–19 session), has been selected for assistant general secretary (AGS).

Among the key nominees are Ariful Islam for Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs, Ehsanul Islam for Science and Technology Affairs, Chemon Faria Islam Meghla for Common Room, Reading Room and Cafeteria Affairs, and Md. Other nominees include Chim Chimya Chakma (Sports Secretary), Md. Saif Ullah (Student Transportation Secretary), Syed Imam Hasan Anik (Social Service Secretary), Md. Speaking at the event, JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib emphasized that the panel had been finalized “through a fully democratic process reflecting everyone’s opinion,” asserting that “no external influence was involved.” He added that despite enduring prolonged repression, the organization has continued to promote “positive, student-friendly, and inclusive politics” on campus.

The announced panel will contest against rival student groups in the long-awaited DUCSU polls on September 9.
