Bangladesh routed Ireland by an innings to complete a clean sweep of the Sylhet Test.
Bangladesh secured a commanding innings-and-47-run win over Ireland shortly after lunch on the fourth day of the Sylhet Test on Thursday, clinching their 24th Test victory.
Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad led the attack with a career-best 4-60, while Taijul Islam claimed 3-84 and took the final wicket of Barry McCarthy as Ireland were bowled out for 254 in their second innings.
Andy McBrine battled for a determined 52 off 106 balls, but found little support until a brief late stand from McCarthy (25) and debutant Jordan Neil (36), whose 54-run partnership held off Bangladesh temporarily.
Bangladesh had set up the result with a massive first-innings declaration at 587-8, powered by centuries from Mahmudul Hasan Joy and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Ireland, dismissed for 286 in their first innings, never recovered after falling to 86-5 on day three.
The victory is Bangladesh’s fourth Test win by an innings, highlighting their growing authority in home conditions as their spinners dominated on a turning fourth-day pitch.
