Army to Stay Resolute in Defending Nation’s Sovereignty
Stricter Action to Be Taken Against Violence, Threats to Life and Property

The Bangladesh Army has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty. It emphasized that it will take stricter measures against any actions that could cause loss of life or property, incite mob violence, or lead to public suffering.
Col Md Shafiqul Islam, Colonel Staff of the Military Operations Directorate at Army Headquarters, made these remarks during a press conference held at the Officers’ Mess in Dhaka Cantonment on Monday.
Highlighting the sensitivity of the corridor issue, he stated that the Army will not engage in any activity that threatens national security nor compromise in safeguarding the country’s borders.
He further noted that the Army is continuously working to protect sovereignty, national security, and the safety of citizens amid the evolving situation in the country. Army personnel have been deployed across all 62 districts, including remote char areas, to maintain law and order under the directives of the Chief of Army Staff.
Addressing concerns about relations between the Army and the government, Col Islam clarified that there is no rift; rather, the Army remains steadfast and united in protecting national interests. Since the August 5 leadership change, the Army has been coordinating closely with all relevant sectors.
