Abdul Moyeen Khan says Bangladesh Nationalist Party works to uphold people’s rights, not to pursue power
Abdul Moyeen Khan says Bangladesh Nationalist Party works to uphold people’s rights, not to pursue power.
Abdul Moyeen Khan, a standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Member of Parliament from Narsingdi-2, said the BNP does not pursue politics for the sake of power but works to safeguard the rights and welfare of the country’s people.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at an iftar gathering organised by the Narsingdi district unit of the BNP on Monday evening.
Moyeen Khan said democracy in the country had effectively been buried over the past 17 years. However, the student-people mass uprising on August 5, 2024 inspired not only people within Bangladesh but also pro-democracy supporters abroad.
He added that democracy has returned to the country through that movement and claimed that the BNP played the most significant role in the struggle to restore democracy under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
The event was chaired by Khayrul Kabir Khokon, president of the Narsingdi district BNP and Member of Parliament from Narsingdi Sadar, and moderated by district BNP General Secretary Monjur Elahi.
Among others, Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bokul, assistant secretary for science and technology affairs of the BNP Central Committee, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Narsingdi district Ameer Maulana Mosleh Uddin also addressed the gathering.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Superintendent of Police Abdul Al Faruk, and Narsingdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Rashedul Hasan Rintu were present, along with other political, social and administrative figures.
