A Bangladeshi company with two employees secured $29 million from the US
Former US President Donald Trump stated that a $29 million US-funded project aimed at strengthening Bangladesh's political landscape was awarded to an obscure firm with only two employees.

The newly elected US president addressed US governors at the White House on Friday. During his speech, Trump highlighted several USAID projects that were being terminated based on recommendations from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk.
"$29 million to strengthen the political landscape in Bangladesh. It went to a firm that nobody had ever heard of," the president stated. "Can you imagine? A small firm getting $10,000 here, $10,000 there—and then suddenly receiving $29 million from the US government. That firm had just two employees. Two people! I think they’re very happy, very rich." Trump then added, "They’ll probably be on the cover of a major business magazine soon—for being great scammers."
Before mentioning Bangladesh, Trump also criticized a USAID project in India. He said, "$21 million was going to my friend, Prime Minister Modi, in India for voter turnout. We’re giving $21 million for voter turnout in India? What about us? I want voter turnout too."
Both projects were among 17 international aid programs in countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and India that were cut based on DOGE's recommendations.
