At least five firefighting units were deployed to control a major fire that broke out at a foam manufacturing factory in the Kadamtali area of the capital on Friday evening.

Confirming the incident, Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Duty Officer Rozina Akter said the blaze started at around 6:34pm at the factory in the Saddam Market area of Kadamtali.

The first FSCD unit arrived at the scene within 20 minutes of the fire breaking out, while four additional units from nearby stations later joined the operation, she added.

The cause of the fire could not be immediately determined.
