Saudi Arabia prohibits live broadcasts and filming inside mosques during Ramadan.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance has issued new directives ahead of Ramadan, prohibiting the use of cameras in mosques to film the imam and worshippers during prayers, including Taraweeh.
Additionally, the ministry has banned the live transmission or broadcasting of prayers through any media platforms, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Imams and preachers have been urged to strictly follow these guidelines, while worshippers are encouraged to maintain proper decorum and religious etiquette within mosques.
These measures aim to uphold the sanctity of mosques and ensure a peaceful worship environment without disturbances.
As part of its ongoing efforts, the ministry issues such directives annually before Ramadan to regulate religious activities and create a conducive atmosphere for worshippers.
Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al Sudais, Head of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, reiterated the ministry’s commitment to enhancing services and programs during Ramadan. He also highlighted plans to further digitize operational strategies to improve the experience for Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the two holy mosques.
