Army personnel must remain ever-prepared for combat to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty, Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus stated. Speaking after observing the Army Manoeuvre Exercise 2024-25, conducted by the 55 Infantry Division at the Rajbari Military Training Area yesterday, he highlighted the critical role of readiness, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
"The Bangladesh Army stands as a symbol of national pride and trust," Prof. Yunus remarked.
He emphasized that army personnel must uphold their commitment by maintaining constant readiness to defend the country's sovereignty. He also stressed the importance of modern and advanced training to develop operational proficiency, advocating for the guiding principle: "Training is the best welfare."
The Chief Adviser further stated, "Training for army personnel should be practical and focused on building operational expertise, bravery, and professionalism."
Prof. Yunus praised the high-level skills and exceptional training demonstrated by the army during the exercise. Senior officials, including General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff; Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of Air Staff; and Major General J.M. Emdadul Islam, GOC of the 55 Infantry Division and Area Commander of the Jashore Area, welcomed him to the venue.
Other advisers from the interim government and senior armed forces officers were also in attendance.
During the hour-long exercise, Bangladesh Army personnel successfully executed an attack simulation in a realistic combat environment, equipped with cutting-edge weapons. The exercise featured participation from all arms and services, including infantry, engineers, and commandos, with support from the Bangladesh Air Force’s fighter aircraft, Army Aviation’s aircraft, and helicopters. Modern tanks, APCs, and artillery guns further enhanced the operation’s realism, the ISPR noted.
