The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation took place at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8:30 AM today, Monday. The gathering was attended by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, other judges, members of the Advisory Council, politicians, and people from all walks of life.
Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, led the prayers, while Muazzin Muhammad Habibur Rahman of Baitul Mukarram recited the verses.
The Dhaka South City Corporation arranged for approximately 35,000 people to perform prayers at the National Eidgah ground, adjacent to the High Court.
Following the Eid prayers, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus delivered a greeting speech, extending Eid Mubarak to all. He remarked, “Today, Eid congregations are being held across villages, markets, towns, and cities in Bangladesh. I extend Eid Mubarak to everyone who participated and to those who could not attend, including our mothers and sisters at home, expatriate workers who contribute tirelessly to the nation, and patients in hospitals.”
He emphasized that Eid is a day of overcoming differences, fostering closeness, and spreading love, stating, “Let us celebrate this day with joy and unity. Our goal is to make unity a lasting strength.”
Dr. Muhammad Yunus further highlighted the importance of remembering the country’s brave martyrs, praying for their eternal peace, and supporting those who have dedicated their lives to the nation. He concluded by affirming, “With the unity we have begun, we will move forward and fulfill the dreams of those who sacrificed for the country. We will build a new Bangladesh, God willing.”
