Vietnamese Vessel Carrying 12,500 Tonnes of Rice Docks at Ctg Port

A vessel carrying 12,500 tonnes of rice from Vietnam arrived at Chattogram Port on Saturday, as part of a government-to-government (G2G) import agreement. According to a press release from the food ministry, the rice shipment is part of a larger deal signed on 3 February between Bangladesh and Vietnam to import 100,000 tonnes of rice to help stabilize local supply. So far, Bangladesh has received a total of 72,700 tonnes under the agreement. 

The initial inspection of the rice has been completed, and unloading operations are set to begin shortly, with authorities taking necessary steps to expedite the process. As of 19 April, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) reports that coarse rice is selling for Tk 52–58 per kg, while fine rice is priced between Tk 88 and Tk 90 per kg—reflecting a slight uptick from previous weeks.
