Twenty-seven BGB platoons have been deployed to ensure security around Khaleda Zia’s janaza and burial.

The funeral prayer of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be held after Zuhr on Wednesday, 31 December, at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

The Chief Adviser’s Office said on Tuesday night that all preparations for the janaza have been completed.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the prayers and maintain strict security, authorities have deployed 27 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) across Manik Mia Avenue and other key areas of Dhaka.

Confirming the deployment, BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said overall security has been reinforced for the janaza and burial programme.

He added that the 27 platoons have been positioned at strategic locations, including Evercare Hospital, the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area and Zia Udyan, as part of a comprehensive security plan.
