Three Bangladesh Air Force personnel were killed and four others seriously injured after an Air Force pickup truck plunged from a flyover at the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Warrant Officer Mahmud, Corporal Piyas and LAC Zubaidul.

The accident took place at around 10:20pm when the pickup truck, which was reportedly carrying out routine duty, lost control and fell from the flyover on the second floor of the third terminal. The three personnel died at the scene.

Four others—Corporal Sifat, Abu Saeed, Mahbub and LAC Ahad—sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Lt Col Sami-Ud-Doula Chowdhury, director of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate, confirmed the deaths on Monday night.

“We have initially learnt that they died in an accident. Details will be provided later,” he said.

The injured personnel and the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment and further procedures.
