Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed at Evercare Hospital and the Parliament area.
BGB personnel were deployed across several parts of the capital on Tuesday night, including Evercare Hospital, the National Parliament area and Zia Udyan.
Security measures are being tightened ahead of Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers, scheduled to be held at the Parliament’s South Plaza around 2pm on Wednesday, followed by her burial beside the grave of her husband, the late President Ziaur Rahman, in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said around 10,000 members of the internal security forces would be deployed to maintain law and order. He added that the army would act as a supporting force in certain areas, while briefing reporters at the Secretariat.
Three-time former prime minister Khaleda Zia passed away at Evercare Hospital at around 6am on Tuesday. She had been undergoing treatment there since November 23 after being admitted with multiple health complications, including infections affecting her heart and lungs.
