Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is set to attend the janaza of Khaleda Zia.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday to attend the janaza of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Confirming the visit, Pakistan High Commission Press Counsellor in Dhaka, Fasih Ullah Khan, told BSS on Tuesday evening that the Deputy Prime Minister would travel to Dhaka to participate in the funeral prayer. He added that Ishaq Dar is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, both the Prime Minister and the President of Pakistan expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, offering condolences to her family and the people of Bangladesh.
In a condolence message, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Begum Zia as “a committed friend of Pakistan,” adding that his government and the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with Bangladesh during this time of grief.
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari also conveyed his condolences, saying he was deeply saddened by the death of the former Bangladeshi prime minister. He extended heartfelt sympathies to her family and the nation, noting that her leadership and contributions would be remembered with respect.
