Three-time former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will receive a state funeral at around 3:30 pm on Wednesday, the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing said on Tuesday.
According to the Press Wing, she will be buried beside her husband, late president Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
To prevent overcrowding, members of the general public will not be permitted to attend the burial.
Her namaz-e-janaza is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, adjacent to Manik Mia Avenue.
The Press Wing also said that carrying bags or heavy items during the funeral prayers will be prohibited.
Khaleda Zia, widely seen as a steadfast leader in Bangladesh’s democratic movement, passed away early Tuesday while receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
