Indian High Commissioner meets Information Minister Swapon

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma paid a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon on Monday (13 April).

During the meeting, they discussed wide-ranging cooperation in the field of information and broadcasting, including collaboration between media and broadcasting institutions of the two countries.

Both sides agreed to strengthen exchange visits of media delegations to enhance people-to-people ties and promote mutual understanding. The High Commissioner proposed several capacity-building initiatives for journalists and media professionals under the Government of India’s ITEC programme. As part of these efforts, a special training course for women journalists from Bangladesh will soon be organised in India.

They also exchanged views on cooperation in the film sector, including film screenings, festivals, and collaboration in production and post-production technological support.

The High Commissioner reiterated India’s willingness to work with the government and people of Bangladesh to further strengthen people-centric cooperation across all sectors based on mutual interest and benefit.
