The Prime Minister is set to launch the distribution of ‘Farmer Cards’ on April 14
The Prime Minister is set to launch the distribution of ‘Farmer Cards’ on April 14.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally launch the ‘Farmer Card’ distribution programme on a pilot basis on April 14, marking the occasion of Pahela Baishakh (Bangla New Year 1433).
The premier announced the initiative while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the sports card and allowance distribution programme at his Tejgaon office this morning.
“The ‘Farmer Card’ or ‘Krishak Card’ distribution will begin on April 14. Through such initiatives, the government is steadily fulfilling its commitments to improve people’s living standards. In that same continuity, the ‘Sports Card’ programme has started today,” he said.
As part of the pre-pilot phase, authorities are continuously collecting data from farmers across all categories. The programme will then be rolled out simultaneously in 11 upazilas on Pahela Baishakh.
The selected upazilas include Tangail Sadar; Shibganj in Bogura; Panchagarh Sadar and Boda; Islampur in Jamalpur; Shailkupa in Jhenaidah; Nesarabad in Pirojpur; Juri in Moulvibazar; Cumilla Sadar; Goalanda in Rajbari; and Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.
The programme will be implemented by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) under the Ministry of Agriculture. Under this initiative, landless, marginal, and small farmers will receive an average subsidy or agricultural input support of Tk2,500.
Additionally, selected categories of farmers will be provided financial assistance at government-determined rates during the Kharif-1 and Kharif-2 seasons.
