Authorities have launched a nationwide crackdown on fuel irregularities, filing 191 cases and recovering over 87,000 litres of illegally hoarded fuel in the past 24 hours.

According to a statement posted Tuesday morning on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, a total of 391 অভিযান and mobile court drives were carried out across the country.

The operations took place simultaneously in all 64 districts on 30 March to monitor the fuel situation. During the অভিযান, authorities collected fines totalling Tk935,070, while several individuals were handed jail sentences. In Satkhira, one person was sentenced to two months in prison; in Chandpur, another received a one-year term; and in Gazipur, one individual was jailed for one month.

A total of 87,700 litres of illegally stored fuel were seized, including 67,400 litres of diesel, 6,444 litres of octane, and 13,856 litres of petrol.

The statement added that magistrates from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division are continuing similar drives in metropolitan areas, with the অভিযান set to remain ongoing.
